This exhibition shows eight out of the thirteen silhouettes from this debut Haute Couture collection designed by Yacine Aouadi. Corresponding video screenings offer a visual immersion within its inspirational sources. An urban wardrobe with Victorian accents and superstition hints. The hand embroidered trompe l’œil « tattoos » are personified through several body marks, including some from Yacine Aouadi himself. The ornamentation of the pieces, mainly tone on tone, are a tribute to French artist Pierre Soulages’ «outrenoir» (beyond black) notion. Finally, the neon coloured zips electrify the looks and challenge the silhouettes with jewellery-buttons in Swarovski cristals, acting as an allegory of modernism and classicism.
